I have not acted as my father bade me,
Because the brave and lion-hearted Rustam |
به کردن برفتم به رای پدر
کنون این گزین پیر پرخاشخر |

Hath many toils in other chieftains' stead
To his account and with his massive mace
Reformed the world. |
بسی رنج دارد به جای سران
جهان راست کرده به گرز گران |

From Sháh to slave surviveth to this day

همه شهر ایران بدو زندهاند
اگر شهریارند و گر بندهاند |

I need a valiant messenger,
Instructed, wise, and of retentive mind, |
