Meet Houshang Moradi-Kermani |
|
Text & Translation |
It (The house) definitely was in the hands of (under
management of) my mother. |
I exactly see these palms like my mother, |
Each of them…the thing is (chiz hast) … has a
kind of maternal feeling and hint (smell) of mother
for me. |
What nights [they were when] in Tehran I could live just by
eating the dates of these palms! |
I grew up in (tu=dar) Sirch and there (unjā = ānjā) weren’t [any] palm tree(s)
there. |
And I would think about these dates that I was eating;
what did their (its) tree look like?! |
I mean, [when] I wished (my heart wanted) someday (one
day) to write this down (in somewhere) and so then
(ke) I wrote the book ”The Palm Tree.” |
“Morad jumped (parid) down [and] ran toward
the palm trees which grew in a line, tall along the
brook, wrapped his arms around one palm (baghl gereft =
hugged) and from below looked [up] at its branches and
leaves. It was like an umbrella, very big. He
[climbed] up it a ways (some rungs, steps) and came down." |
And each of these, I know one day my mother…nothing
(=nevermind) … (She) was here. |
How old was I when my mother died? |
One year, one year old. |

He was a three-month-old baby when his mother died. |
