Bird of the Dawn by Malek o-Sho`arā |
مرغ سحر از ملکالشعراء بهار |

Bird of dawn begin to moan, |
مرغ سحر ناله سرکن |

|
Revive my scorching pain. |
داغ مرا تازهتر کن |

|
With fire-drenched sigh, this cage, |
ز آهِ شرربار، این قفس را |

|
Demolish and turn upside down. |
برشکن و زیر و زبر کن |

|
Wing-tied nightingale, emerge from the corner of the cage, |
بلبل پربسته ز کنج قفس درآ |

|
Lilt the chant of the freedom of the humankind. |
نغمهٔ آزادی نوع بشر سرا |

|
And by a breath, the expanse of this massed soil, |
وز نفسی عرصهٔ این خاک توده را |

|
Turn ablaze. |
پرشرر کن |

|
The cruelty of the despot, the aggression of the hunter, |
ظلم ظالم، جور صیّاد |

|
Has strewn my nest away on the wind. |
آشیانم، داده برباد |

|
Oh God, Oh Universe, Oh Nature, |
ای خدا، ای فلک، ای طبیعت |

|
Turn our dark night into dawn! |
شام تاریک ما را سحر کن! |

It’s new Spring, flower is in, |
نوبهار است، گل بهبار است |

The cloud of my eyes, is dew-deluging, |
ابر چشمم، ژالهبار است |

This cage, as my heart, is tight and dark. |
این قفس، چون دلم، تنگ و تار است. |

Cast flame in the cage, Oh fiery sigh, |
شعله فکن در قفس ای آهِ آتشین |

Hand of Nature, do not pluck the flower of my life! |
دست طبیعت گل عمر مرا مچین! |
