عزیزان لطف بفرمائید. بنشینید.

Please observe the rules of politeness and respect the dignity of the university. I request of the dear friends.

ادب و شأنِ دانشگاه رو رعایت بکنید. من از دوستانِ عزیز خواهش می‌کنم.

In the name of God, the compasionate, the merciful. The rules of politeness and dignity of the university require that we exercise more moderation.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم. ادب و شأنِ دانشگاه اقتضأ می‌کنه که سعی بکنیم بیشتر مدارا بکنیم.

Secondly, in these cases at the university, the Basiji (Islamic "Volunteers") are always the ones who happen to get oppressed. Always... Just now, at the door, the ones who got beaten, the ones who were there, they saw I was trying to defend them, but the security team beat both me and them. Beat both me and them. Always in the university, we have been oppressed.

دوّماً توی این قضیه‌های دانشگاه همیشه بسیجی مظلومه . همیشه ... الآن دمِ در کس‌های که کتک خوردن، کسانی که...کس‌هایی که اونجا بودن، دیدن من داشتم ازشون دفاع می‌کردم ولی تیمِ حفاظت هم منو زد هم اونارو. هم منو زد هم اونارو. همیشه تو دانشگاه ما مظلوم بودیم. و....

I ask the friends to show more forbearance and tolerance.

خواهش می‌کنم دوستان تحمّلِ و سعهٔ صدر بیشتری رو از خود نشان دهند.

Sir, this is not the way of democracy. What the hell do you think you are doing? A few individuals are doing this, Sir. Don't do something that I would have you kicked out. Be civilized!

آقا، این اینجوری خلافِ مصالحِ دمکراتیکه. این چه وضعیی که شما انجام می‌دهید؟ چند نفرید که هاو و هو می‌کنید، آقا! کاری نکنید بگم....کاری نکنین بگم بیرونتون بکنند. آدم باشید!

Listen! Hey! Be tolerant! Those who have not yet come to power and don't tolerate others....God forbid they should ever come to power.

گوش بدید...ای! تحمّل بکنید. آدمایی که هنوز به قدرت نرسیدند، تحمّل دیگران رو ندارن، خدا نکند به قدرت برسند.

I think all the matters which various minds and different persuasions had which were expressed here and will be expressed, and I hope...I hope...that....

فکر می‌کنم مطالبی که ذهن‌های مختلف و گرایش‌های مختلف داشتن در اینجا بیان شد و بیان خواهد شد، و امیدوارم که....امیدوارم که ...

Enough lies! Enough lies! Enough lies!

بسّه دروغ! بسّه دروغ! بسّه دروغ!....

OK! Alright!

خیلی خب، چَشم! ...

You have to be rational.

شما باید منطقی باشید.

Only dictators are the ones who don't accept others than themselves...

فقط دیکتاتورا هستن که غیر خودشون رو قبول ندارند...

...and I hope that in the university, we will not witness the presence of dictators, and all of us with different beliefs tolerate one another.

...و امیدوارم که در دانشگاه، ما شاهد حضور دیکتاتورا نباشیم، همه با عقاید مختلفی که هستیم، همدیگه رو تحمّل بکنیم.

My belief has been in reforms from within the "regime," the fact is, I consider the Islamic Republic the great gain of the most democratic revolution of our times.

اعتقاد بنده به اصلاحات در درون نظام بوده است. اصلاً من جمهوری اسلامی را دست‌آورد بزرگ مردمی‌ترین انقلاب روزگار خود می‌دانم.

And as a person who empathizes with society, as for this regime, I consider it necessary to preserve her.

و به عنوان یک انسانی که درد جامعه را دارم، این نظام حفظ او را لازم می‌دانم.

I consider the Islamic Revolution of Iran to be the most important step in recent history of the country of Iran, and I consider the defense of it, for democracy, for freedom and for deliverance from foreign powers to be my duty.

انقلاب اسلامی ایران را مرحلهٔ مهم تاریخ اخیر کشور ایران می‌دانم، و دفاع از ان را برای دموکراسی، برای آزادی و برای نجات از سلطهٔ بیگانگان بر خود فرض می‌دانم.

Our chronic pain has been long-term despotism, and the remedy for our chronic pain is democracy.

درد مزمن ما استبداد دیرپاست، و دوای درد مزمن ما مردمسالاری است.

We want liberty. We can't get away from it. We want progress so that we may survive and hold our heads high.

ما خواستار آزادی هستیم. از آن گریزی نیست. ما پیشرفت می‌خواهیم برای این که بمانیم و سربلند بمانیم ....

My dear Sir, Dear Sir, you don't want progress? Don't be angry, you're young. You don't even know what the problem is.

آقای عزیز...آقای عزیز، شما پیشرفت رو نمی‌خوایی؟ عصبانی نشید، شما جوونید. شما نمی‌دونید که مسئله چیست.

"Jannati, Jannati, you are the enemy of the establishment...."

جنّتی، جنّتی تو دشمن نظامی....

Okay, if you are the representative of the people, I am the enemy of the people.

خیلی خب، اگر شما نماینده ملّتید ما هم دشمن ملّتیم.

What? Oh no! I thought you said, "Khātami." I thought you said, "Khātami."

چی؟ ای نه! من خیال کردم «خاتمی» گفتید. من خیال کردم «خاتمی» گفتید.

Now remember gentlemen, the protestors are standing in front of the President and with complete freedom are shouting their slogans.

الآن یادتون باشه، آقایون معترضین در مقابل رئیس‌جمهور ایستادند، و با کمال آزادی، دارن شعارشون رو می‌دهند.

Now again I say, the right way to move, is in the direction of...is within the Islamic Republic, because beyond the Islamic Republic, you can be sure that there is no democratic system in the true sense of the word.

حالا هم می‌گویم، راه درست، حرکت کردن.. در جه‍...درون جمهوری اسلامی است، زیرا آنسوی جمهوری اسلامی، مطمئن باشید که یک نظام دموکراتیک به معنی واقعی کلمه نخواهد بود.

The deception....trickery...don't be fooled by those rejected ones of the revolution who for us want to bring us the gift of liberty and democracy

گول...گول....فریب...رانده شده‌گان را از انقلاب را که برای ما می‌خوان سوغات آزادی و دموکراسی بیاورند، نخورید!

Sisters and Brothers, thank God my term is up, but if someone is supposed to be owed to, I'm the one to whom a debt is owed. Not owed by the people, not owed by the people who are our benefactors. Not demanding anything back from the people, not from the people who are our benefactors. However, on behalf of the people, I have expectations from certain groups.

خواهران و برادران، بحمد الله، دوران من به سر آمد، امّا اگر بنای .. اگر بنای طلب‌کاری باشد، من طلب‌کارم. نه طلب‌کار ملّت...نه طلب‌کار ملّت که ولی‌نعمت ما است. طلب‌کاری از مردم نه، مردم ولی‌نعمت ما هستند. امّا به نمایندگی از این ملّت از بعضی جریانات طلب‌کارم.

From the deviant-minded, fanatic, power-hungry ones, who ... who did not notice the reformist movement....of the people and their demands, and lined up against them and instead of bowing in front of the people, and demands that stemmed from their ideals and which was manifested in the 2nd of Khordād (the date when Khātami won the election) epic, they stood narrow-mindedly and created obstacles.

از کج‌اندیشان متعصب قدرت‌طلبی که حرکت اصلاح‌طلب... طلبی مردم و مطالبات آنان را ندیدند و در برابر آن صف‌آرایی کردند و به جای خضوع، در برابر مردم، و مطالبات مردم که برخاسته از آرمان‌های آنها بود و حماسه دوّم خرداد تجلّی آن بود، آنها تنگ‌نظرانه ایستادند و سنگ‌اندازی کردند.
