In Memoriam

Firoozeh Khazrai

We dedicate this version of the Dibāche of Sa`di's Golestān to the memory of Firoozeh, who was devoted to her students of Persian language, and who was in the process of ensuring that online instructional materials like this be available to them when the news came that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Even throughout her rounds of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment, she continued teaching full time, not missing a day until paralysis completely forced her to stop.  The loss of one working so enthusiastically in the service of Persian has come to us as a terrible blow especially at this time when Persian cannot afford any more losses.  May her life be an inspiration to others.

We are grateful to Professor Manouchehr Kasheff of Columbia University, who has generously taken the time to give students of Persian everywhere the gift of this beautiful and priceless recording of the Dibāche.
