Listen and see how very pronounced and distinctive the final `ayn is as pronounced by a native speaker of Arabic!
1b Persian Written/Formal jam' جمع Arabic `ayn replaced by a glottal stop.
1c  Persian Spoken/Colloquial ja: m جم The glottal stop in turn replaced by a longer-duration previous vowel /a/. If you pronounced the Spoken as the Written, you will sound very pedantic.
