poppy flower(s); While both are "poppy", khashkhāsh gives opium while shaqāyeq does not. However, it is not the seeds of khashkhāsh which contain opium, rather the sap of the plant. The gourd that contains the seeds is slit in several places when ready to let the sap ooze out.
