Subject: font sizes in office 2000

Hi Connie - I've solved the font size problem! As I thought, it wasn't a
windows problem, but an office one.
To enable the font size changing function, you have to have installed
the second office2000-CD. Then you'll find the option "microsoft
office tools" in the "programmes" section of the start menu. One of
those office tools is "office language settings". You click that, insert
CD1, then you choose Arabic as your favourite language. Then it
should work... maybe you can send this to those other people who
have my problem and see if it works for them as well?

Hi Connie - it really was no trouble at all! You're welcome to post my text,
but please put in that the option to choose Arabic as favourite language
appears only when you click "apply" first. Maybe it is not even necessary
to choose it as favourite, maybe it's enough just to enable it... I don't
know. As I wrote to you, I reinstalled windows and everything, now the
Persian problem is solved, but others have crept up.. so I don't know if my
computer is working as it should be working. People should just try out.

*happy* greetings:-)

<snip> ...It is really all due
to the six viruses I had on my poor computer which made me reinstall
everything... crises are said to be chances after all....

Subject: Page numbers in Farsi for Word documents

Hello,
I have seen your excellent online tutorial on how to type Persian by
Microsoft Word. It was really helpful and I would like to thank you.

But, I have noted that nothing can be done with page numbers. Today, I
have tried to change the page numbers' font, and it worked. If you change
the page numbers font to a Farsi font ending in "-s", you will have the
page numbers in Farsi. I do not remember from where I got these fonts.
But, for about every Farsi font that I have, there is one font with -s
ending as well e.g. Roya-s. These "-s-ending" fonts do not work at the
body of the document and only work for the page numbers. I have tried
these only in Windows XP and MS Word 2002.

Hope you find this helpful.

Best whishes,

Ali

Subject: page number in persian

Hi,

Thank you very much for the very useful information you put on the web
for writing persian texts in Microsoft Word. I have a question that I
suppose it has not been answered in your web site, how is it possible
to have page numbers printed in persian?
Thanking again for your very useful information, I am looking forward to
your answer, of course if you have a free time to answer to many
questions from those like me.

Sincerely,

Subject: your instruction

Connie,

It was funny that you wrote like that. All I learned is from your
instructions. Well let me explain in detail, first I numbered the pages
in English fonts like Century or Times new Roman, then as you instructed
me instead of using header and footer option I just clicked on the page
numbers which were already appeared in English. Be sure that cross
hatched bars are around the one that you clicked on and also check
whether the next page also have the haze pattern on its page number. Then
click on fonts and change the fonts from either Century or Times new
Roman to one of the persian fonts. If there is cross hatch on the first
page that you clicked on, and there are also haze pattern on the next
page number then if you click on fonts, the option that you have to
change to persain font will appear in blue. and that is it.
the next page will also automatically change to next number in persian.
Please tell me about the result.

Connie,

When you click on the first page number the cross hatch appears around
it. then use the right button on mouse and click on the number so that
inside the cross hatch bar becomes black, then go to the fonts and change
the fonts.
That is all I did. I also have two pages and I just did this for the
first page number and I am not sure what happens if I had more than 2
pages for numbering.
Also I use Word 2000, which version do you use?
Let me know the result.
